Going on a family trip to Cairns recently was an amazing experience. I love travelling with my family, and have made it my goal to do one family holiday every year. A lot of families probably do the same thing, it’s not anything unusual, but when you have six kids, there are a few more obstacles.
Our first obstacle was finding accommodation for eight people. This was not easy, and yes very expensive, but we managed to get a beautiful four bedroom holiday home for a week.
Next, we managed to get some cheap flights, which is a must. These were bought 6 months prior.
So, we get to our destination. What a beautiful place!
Other than some yelling and fighting in the car, so far so good.
Day 1 went well. We went on the sky rail and saw the beautiful rainforest. A bit of whinging but it was a great day!
Day 2 is when it started. After having lunch at a restaurant in Port Douglas, Lilly threw up outside their door.
Day 3. Mia throws up inside the Rental car and on Lilly’s legs.
Day 4. Alek almost throws up at the Markets, and gets a high fever.
Day 5. All is good. Except that I almost got electrocuted by the faulty hairdryer that blows up in my hand. Luckily the safety switch saved me. We visit the Daintree rainforest. Mossman Gorge and see the crocodiles on the river cruise.
Day 6. We take the boat to the Great Barrier Reef. Mia and Lilly throw up and Anton is very sea sick. On the way home, Chloe gets high fever, but luckily doesn’t throw up.
Day 7. We fly back home. That night Bailey throws up and has the next two days off school.
Still an Amazing Experience, with lots of wonderful memories, (and lots of vomit).
